On the shoulder, scene of Canace’s suicide, maybe inspired by Euripides’ tragedy Aiolos: Canace, guilty of her incestuous love for her brother Macareus, is lying lifeless on a kline, holding tight in her right hand the sword with which she has killed herself.
On the left, Macareus is led tied by another brother followed by his sisters.
On the right, his old father, Aiolos, brandishes a staff pointing it at the culprit; behind him, his mother exausted, is comforted by a young boy followed by a woman.
On the body, couples of youths and women are preceded by Hermes.
